The policy, disclosed in leaked emails Musk sent to Tesla's executive employees Tuesday, was first reported by electrical car news website Electrek.
"Anybody who wishes to do distant work have to be within the workplace for a minimal (and I imply *minimum*) of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla. That is less than we ask of factory workers," Musk wrote, adding that the office should be the employee's main office where the opposite staff they commonly work together with are based mostly — "not a remote department workplace unrelated to the job duties."
Musk said he would personally review any request for exemption from the coverage, but that for essentially the most part, "If you happen to don't present up, we'll assume you've resigned."
Tesla (TSLA) didn't reply to a request for touch upon the coverage change, but Musk appeared to substantiate it in a tweet of his own early Wednesday when asked on Twitter, "Hey Elon...any further comment to people who assume coming into work is an antiquated idea?" Musk replied: "They need to fake to work elsewhere."The coverage is completely at odds with that of the other tech firm Musk is attempting to buy, Twitter (TWTR), which has previously announced employees can proceed to make money working from home "perpetually" if they like.
