A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass capturing, authorities mentioned.

In an announcement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace stated it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" sent by a scholar at an elementary school.

It said its native faculty risk enforcement group was immediately notified and started investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written menace to conduct a mass taking pictures," the sheriff's office mentioned.

In video shared by authorities, the boy could be seen being led right into a police car.

“This scholar’s habits is sickening, especially after the current tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated in an announcement, noting that the risk came simply days after the lethal faculty shooting at Robb Elementary College left 19 students and two academics useless.

“Proper now is just not the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he said. “This youngster made a fake menace, and now he’s experiencing actual penalties.”

Marceno said his workforce “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to analyze the incident.

The comment came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the Could 24 school capturing after it came to mild that they waited roughly an hour for backup instead of immediately moving in on the gunman.
