Speaking in the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler mentioned, "I do not plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead till I really feel better concerning the course of our country."

In a weblog post, Kapler questioned whether or not the nation's leadership is committed to representing its individuals's finest pursuits and whether the US is really "the land of the free and the house of the brave."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her youngsters. They blocked parents trying to arrange to cost in to cease the shooter, including a father who learned his daughter was murdered whereas he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians determine that the lobbyist and gun industries are more important than our children's freedom to go to school with no need bulletproof backpacks and lively shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he known as "the lack of delivery of the promise of what our national anthem represents."

"I'm not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I could have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied with your nation, you let or not it's known by protest. The house of the brave ought to encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action towards gun violence in the United States.

Kerr refused to discuss basketball forward of Sport 4 of the Warriors' collection in opposition to the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute elevating his voice as he railed against gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's shooting.

"Within the final 10 days, we've had elderly Black individuals killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we've got youngsters murdered at college," Kerr told reporters in the beginning of the press conference.

"When are we going to do something? I am tired. I'm so uninterested in getting up right here and offering condolences to the devastated households which can be on the market ... I'm tired of the moments of silence. Enough."
