NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — It's a matter that is taken maintain in Tennessee: books like "Maus" or "Stroll Two Moons" have been pulled from shelves.
While these books could be banned from some schools, there is still elsewhere you'll find them.
"Our job is simply to make sure that if you'd like it, it's right here for you," said Public Info Officer for the Nashville Public Library, Ed Brown.
"'Maus' is all checked out right now," stated Brown. "So we acquired more copies on order however as soon as word received around about what occurred in McMinn County, we obtained a number of holds."
These are simply a number of the two million different supplies at the Nashville Public Library.
"Lots of people don't want to learn these books; they don't need their children to need to read these books, or pressured to read these books, and that's tremendous," said Brown. "However there are a lot people who do, and we want to be there for the people who do want to read these supplies."
And if you wish to make your love for these supplies known, what higher way than along with your library card? The 5,000 limited version cards for the marketing campaign say "I read banned books."
"All of us watch the TV exhibits that we like; we all watch the different sports or root for the totally different teams we're a part of," stated Brown. "Books are no completely different."
The purpose is to get the 5,000 library cards in the hands of latest sign-ups this month.
"We aren't trying to be a push again — a drive pushing back against these selections — we need to be an alternative to say, should you might not be able to get it there... you will get it here," said Brown.
The limited version library cards can be found so long as supplies final.
