Comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked onstage Tuesday night as he carried out at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl arena, with videos from viewers members' cellphones quickly flooding social media and displaying a person appear to run onto the stage and deal with the comedian.

Videos posted to Twitter appeared to point out the one that charged Chappelle being detained outdoors the venue by police and then loaded into an ambulance with seen injuries.

Witnesses said — and videos appeared to show — that the person was set upon by a number of people onstage instantly after he attacked Chappelle.

While all the debacle was captured in multiple videos shot by members of the audience, cell phone use was formally banned throughout the efficiency.  

The motivation for the initial attack remained unclear, and there was no instant response from the Los Angeles Police Division to CBS Information' request for information about the incident.

Comedian Chris Rock was on the show, and jokingly requested if the attacker was Will Smith — who made headlines by bounding up on stage and slapping Rock at the Academy Awards in March.

Chappelle drew a sharp rebuke late final 12 months from the transgender neighborhood for jokes at their expense featured in his newest Netflix particular, "The Closer," which premiered in October.
