Taliban leader orders women to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme leader and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s ladies to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on ladies’s lives since the Taliban seized power.

“They need to wear a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's conventional and respectful,” said a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a operate in Kabul.

“These women who are not too previous or younger must cover their face, besides the eyes, as per sharia directives, in an effort to avoid provocation when meeting males who should not mahram (adult shut male family),” the decree mentioned.

It added that if ladies had no essential work exterior it was “better they stay at dwelling.”

Throughout their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed similar restrictions on women.
