Apple has discontinued the iPod, 20 years after it was released.
The US tech big stated its iconic music player has been changed by different units, making the iPod redundant.
Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice-president of worldwide advertising and marketing, mentioned: "Right now, the spirit of iPod lives on.
"We've integrated an unimaginable music experience throughout all of our merchandise, from the iPhone to the Apple Watch to HomePod mini, and across Mac, iPad, and Apple TV.
"And Apple Music delivers industry-leading sound quality with assist for spatial audio - there isn't any better method to take pleasure in, uncover, and experience music."
In October 2001, Steve Jobs debuted the unique iPod and it was the primary MP3 player that could hold 1,000 songs and had a 10-hour battery life.
"With iPod, Apple has invented an entire new category of digital music player that allows you to put your total music assortment in your pocket and hearken to it wherever you go," he stated on the time.
"With iPod, listening to music won't ever be the same again."
Similar MP3 gamers released by Microsoft and Sony didn't have the same success because the iPod.
Apple has released 5 variations of its music participant - the Classic, Touch, Shuffle, Mini and Nano.
The company has been slowly killing its iPod range in recent years, with cell phone technology enabling clients to hearken to music services on their phones.
In 2014, the classic click on wheel mannequin was discontinued, and the Shuffle and Nano were killed off three years later.
The seventh-generation iPod touch was the only mannequin nonetheless on sale today.
With out the iPod, there would by no means have been an iPhone or iPod, in line with its inventor Tony Fadell.
