A California district attorney declined to file costs Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the decision after having reviewed police reviews and videos of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no fees be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Workplace concluded its evaluation of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery in opposition to one other passenger on an airplane while waiting at the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe said in a press release.

"Our determination is that we will not file any fees against Mr. Tyson primarily based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These include the conduct of the sufferer main up to the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no prices be filed in this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the particular person was harassing Tyson. The video didn't show what occurred before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file prices by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement companies "for their cautious, diligent, and professional work."
