LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC/Grey Information) - An incident that involved players from a university’s lacrosse workforce and deputies in Georgia stays below investigation.

WTOC studies Delaware State College President Tony Allen launched a press release on Monday responding to the incident that reportedly occurred on April 20 in Liberty County.

Allen wrote Georgia legislation enforcement stopped a bus for a minor site visitors violation with the Delaware State Lacrosse workforce on board. Deputies searched the belongings of the student-athletes, together with suitcases with drug-sniffing canine.

“100% you can’t be in that left lane at all,” said a Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The team was returning residence from a game in Florida and touring by a contracted bus, in keeping with Allen.

Liberty County Sheriff William Bowman held a news convention in regards to the incident but took no questions. He claimed that no private gadgets on the bus were searched.

Physique digicam video obtained by WTOC, however, clearly showed the deputies going via the students’ baggage and even medication.

The university president wrote in his statement that videos taken by gamers confirmed law enforcement making an attempt to intimidate them into confessing to possession of medicine and/or drug paraphernalia.

“They didn’t really ask us,” said Sydney Anderson, a Delaware State Lacrosse Player. “They knowledgeable us of what they’re gonna do and no one questioned them...we simply let them rattle through our stuff.”

A participant on the bus asked: “How did we go from being in the wrong lane to going through our bags?”

A deputy responded: “Properly, he stopped y’all, he didn’t stop y’all for a visitors violation...he stopped the driving force for a visitors violation.”

Nothing unlawful was discovered within the search, and Allen knowledgeable the general public that he has contacted Delaware’s governor, the Black Caucus and different state officials.

Allen wrote that everybody was incensed over the incident.

Allen also added the next:

“We don't intend to let this or some other incident prefer it pass idly by. We are prepared to go wherever the proof leads us. We now have video. We have now allies. Perhaps more significantly, now we have the braveness of our convictions.”

Allen concluded his statement by writing, “We are going to never be bullied into believing anything apart from what we are: Individuals, learners, academics, builders—helpful and honorable individuals able to soar.”
