800 staff resign after firm asks them to work from office

As the Covid scenario has improved, several firms have already called their workers to workplace, ending the work at home (WFH).

Nevertheless, it appears some employees need to earn a living from home further. Recently, a whole lot of workers have resigned when an organization requested them to come to the office.

Over 800 WhiteHat Jr staff have resigned from the children online coding studying edtech start-up within the last two months after being requested to work from office.

This comes after WhiteHat Jr, a platform which was acquired by BYJU’S in 2020, requested its staff to return to workplace within a month’s time, in response to an Inc42 report.

On March 18, the company announced the coverage to end work at home and requested distant employees to return to workplace by April 18.

The resignations got here from full-time workers of the sales, coding, and math groups. More staff are expected to put down their papers within the coming months.

One of the staff who resigned informed the website that a month’s time was not enough for relocation. “Some have youngsters, some have aged and sick parents, while others produce other obligations. It isn't proper to call back workers in such a short time frame,” the former WhiteHat Jr worker mentioned.

Another employee mentioned salaries also factored in the determination to not return to the office. At the time of hiring, staff had been advised about their job location – WhiteHat Jr has offices in Gurugram, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Nevertheless, after working from home for 2 years, workers believed that their salaries needs to be revised to replicate the cost of dwelling in costly cities.

“This was a well-planned and managed layoff that WhiteHat Jr did,” a former employee remarked.
