New York Lawyer Basic Letitia James will investigate social media companies including Amazon's Twitch in connection to the apparently racially motivated taking pictures at a Buffalo supermarket that left 10 dead and three injured.

James' office can even deal with 4chan, 8chan and Discord, but shouldn't be limited to these platforms, in line with a information launch revealed Wednesday. Investigators will take a look at online sources the gunman "used to debate and amplify his intentions and acts to hold out this attack."

Discord on Tuesday said, "What we know presently is that a private, invite-only server was created by the suspect to function a personal diary chat log. Approximately half-hour previous to the attack, however, a small group of people were invited to and joined the server. Before that, our data indicate no other people saw the diary chat log on this personal server."

A Twitch spokesperson mentioned the company is cooperating with the investigation.

Representatives for Twitch and 4chan did not instantly reply to requests for comment. A consultant for 8chan couldn't instantly be identified.
