Talking within the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I don't plan on popping out for the anthem going forward until I feel higher in regards to the direction of our country."

I wish that I could have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that if you're dissatisfied together with your country, you let it be identified by means of protest. The house of the brave should encourage this."
