Speaking in the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I don't plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead until I really feel higher in regards to the course of our country."

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he known as "the dearth of delivery of the promise of what our national anthem represents."
"I am not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that whenever you're dissatisfied together with your country, you let or not it's known by means of protest. The home of the brave should encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action against gun violence in the USA.Kerr refused to discuss basketball forward of Sport 4 of the Warriors' series towards the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute elevating his voice as he railed towards gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's taking pictures.

"When are we going to do something? I am tired. I'm so uninterested in getting up right here and offering condolences to the devastated households that are on the market ... I'm tired of the moments of silence. Sufficient."
