Gabe Kapler: ‘I don’t plan on coming out for the anthem going forward till I feel higher about the path of our nation’

Talking within the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I don't plan on popping out for the anthem going forward until I feel higher concerning the path of our country."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her kids. They blocked mother and father trying to prepare to charge in to cease the shooter, together with a father who realized his daughter was murdered whereas he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians determine that the lobbyist and gun industries are more important than our youngsters's freedom to go to high school without having bulletproof backpacks and energetic shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he known as "the dearth of supply of the promise of what our nationwide anthem represents."

"I'm not okay with the state of this nation. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I might have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied together with your nation, you let it be recognized by means of protest. The house of the brave ought to encourage this."

Kerr refused to discuss basketball ahead of Recreation 4 of the Warriors' series against the Dallas Mavericks, as an alternative elevating his voice as he railed against gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's shooting.

"In the final 10 days, we have had aged Black people killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now now we have kids murdered at school," Kerr told reporters initially of the press conference.

"When are we going to do one thing? I am drained. I'm so tired of getting up right here and providing condolences to the devastated families which are out there ... I am tired of the moments of silence. Enough."
