Die Seitenbesitzer erkannten flott den Wert einer lieblings Positionierung in den Suchergebnissen und recht bald fand man Anstalt, die sich auf die Verfeinerung ausgerichteten. In den Anfängen passierte die Aufnahme oft zu der Übertragung der URL der speziellen Seite bei der unterschiedlichen Search Engines. Diese sendeten dann einen Webcrawler zur Analyse der Seite aus und indexierten sie.[1] Der Webcrawler lud die Webseite auf den Server der Suchmaschine, wo ein 2. Programm, der allgemein so benannte Indexer, Informationen herauslas und katalogisierte (genannte Ansprüche, Links zu ähnlichen Seiten). Die frühen Modellen der Suchalgorithmen basierten auf Infos, die anhand der Webmaster eigenständig vorliegen werden konnten, wie Meta-Elemente, oder durch Indexdateien in Search Engines wie ALIWEB. Meta-Elemente geben einen Gesamteindruck über den Gehalt einer Seite, jedoch stellte sich bald herab, dass die Einsatz dieser Hinweise nicht ordentlich war, da die Wahl der eingesetzten Schlagworte durch den Webmaster eine ungenaue Darstellung des Seiteninhalts reflektieren hat. Ungenaue und unvollständige Daten in Meta-Elementen konnten so irrelevante Internetseiten bei charakteristischen Ausschau halten listen.[2] Auch versuchten Seitenersteller verschiedene Merkmale in einem Zeitraum des HTML-Codes einer Seite so zu manipulieren, dass die Seite stärker in Resultaten gefunden wird.[3] Da die späten Internet Suchmaschinen sehr auf Faktoren angewiesen waren, die bloß in den Koffern der Webmaster lagen, waren sie auch sehr instabil für Missbrauch und Manipulationen im Ranking. Um bessere und relevantere Urteile in den Ergebnissen zu bekommen, mussten sich die Betreiber der Suchmaschinen an diese Ereignisse angleichen. Weil der Erfolg einer Suchmaschine davon anhängig ist, besondere Suchresultate zu den gestellten Keywords anzuzeigen, konnten untaugliche Resultate zur Folge haben, dass sich die Benützer nach diversen Wege für den Bereich Suche im Web umgucken. Die Lösung der Search Engines fortbestand in komplexeren Algorithmen beim Positionierung, die Punkte beinhalteten, die von Webmastern nicht oder nur mühevoll manipulierbar waren. Larry Page und Sergey Brin entwickelten mit „Backrub“ – dem Urahn von Yahoo search – eine Recherche, die auf einem mathematischen Suchalgorithmus basierte, der anhand der Verlinkungsstruktur Unterseiten gewichtete und dies in Rankingalgorithmus einfließen ließ. Auch sonstige Suchmaschinen im WWW relevant in der Folgezeit die Verlinkungsstruktur bspw. als der Linkpopularität in ihre Algorithmen mit ein. Bing
Is using a server side wildcard redirect good practice? This was done but the old domain urls are still indexed a year later. Rankings for the new domain are still terrible and not the same as before the change of address tool.

My question is that we see the usage of webp images more frequently, also Apple announced that he will support Google’s webp image format. Looking at most of the webshops using webp already the type of the image is webp, but they leave the extension of jpg for example https://google.com/image.jpg but type is webp. What could be the reason for that? Wouldn't it be better if the image would have a .webp extension or no extension at all. Is this related somehow to indexing or SEO? I think they do not want to make the redirect of the images and that’s why they change just the type of the file instead of changing the extension.

We did domain name change some months ago and over 3 months everything was fine in terms of ranking, then suddenly we lost all our ranking. All SEO guru have been indicating it's duplicate content issue because both old and new domain contents are on one server. Can you drop some light on this?

If you migrate your website then check out 301 redirect a few times. Even more, after migration control your redirects because it might break in some time.
